Forestry
Buildings in the forestry industry are sometimes very simple and sometimes very complex but are almost always very remote. The majority of forestry buildings are constructed out of pre-engineered steel due to its affordability and ability to clear large spans without the need for interior columns. Incorporating the loads of process equipment, cable trays, interior floor steel, high collateral loads and extremely high snow loads are all typical requirements. For dust control, interior liner panels or special flashings are used to eliminate horizontal surfaces that would otherwise collect dust.

Design-Assist
The way that Colony can add the most value to a building project is to get involved as early as possible in a Design-Assist partnership. We assign a preconstruction manager during the design phase to attend all design meetings with the owner and consultants in order to provide input on constructability, costs, and schedule. In order to build a fully transparent partnership, we estimate the construction in an open-book fashion showing all costs and our associated fee (similar to a Construction Management deal). We then tender all scopes to sub-trades, make final sub/supplier selections together and lock into a fixed price to deliver the construction as the prime contractor.
